This bag’s comfort rating is accurate. I’ve tried it out in 10 degree weather and was warm all night. It’s very roomy and puffy. I’m a rounder guy at 5’ 7” and 230 pounds and this bag had more room than any other bag I own. It’s also shocking how small this bag packs down to considering how big it is when fully fluffed up. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to spend the money.

This is my 4th down bag from Western Mountaineering over the past 20 years. Their quality is unsurpassed, and worth the premium price they sell for. This is my new go-to bag for cold weather, yet not arctic or super high-altitude, use. My first trip got down to 4 degrees F, and I was comfortable in this bag, wearing a base layer and light fleece jacket and beanie. I got a long size so that I could keep a water bottle, camera, batteries, etc, in the foot box to prevent freezing. It's so roomy that I was able to comfortably wear a medium weight down jacket and down pants inside when it went sub-zero the next time out, so I will be able to use it in most winter conditions that I will encounter. Their zipper system is the best I have ever seen for preventing snags and smooth operation. The only thing I'd like to see added would be a small zipped pocket for glasses, headlamp, etc. The microfiber fabric resisted any frost/condensation soaking into the down and felt soft and comfortable.

Great bag for winter camping. Tour up the mountain, shred for the day, build sweet snow cave for the night, sleep like a baby in this awesome bag, shred the next day and bail.

I purchased this bag to retire my 20 plus year old North Face bag. I won't get to truly test this sleeping bag until the first part of April when I go turkey hunting. Temperatures frequently dip into the upper teens at night and can make for a miserable nights sleep. I'm counting on this bag to fulfill it's claims. But my early, and yet to be tested opinion, is this bag will give me a good nights rest. It is certainly comfortable.

I went in to this purchase 100% skeptical about the price and quality. I have an old TNF Green Kazoo that does well to about 15 degrees, after that I’m cold. Northern Ohio gets cold in the winter and I enjoy sleeping outdoors. The stitching on this bag is ridiculous. Someone put some work into this bag, and their skills left nothing but exceptional quality. This alone far exceeded my expectations. The loft is incredible. It really looks inflated when laid flat, very impressive. The zipper system is really a delight to use. No issues whatsoever with snagging. It’s a very thoughtful design. I’m 6’1” tall and about 165lbs but got the 6’6” version because I enjoy having plenty of space inside. I’ve used it 3 separate nights now. 18, 17, and 9 degree overnight lows. I only wear my Smartwool 250 base layers at night in the bag with Darn Tough Mountaineering socks. Each night I woke up to open the bag a little due to its warmth. My toes were very warm without having to throw a hot Nalgene bottle at the footbed. No disrespect to the TNF Green Kazoo but I never achieved that level of comfort and warmth while using it. The Western Mountaineering Kodiak is just a higher level of quality and comfort. The WM bag packs a bit smaller as well. I grabbed a S2S dry bag for it to keep it dry in my bag in the event of exciting weather. As for the price... This is tough for me to explain. I know I’ll be using it at least a dozen nights a year in winter camping alone. Knowing I’ll be warm and cozy most if not all of those nights with a sub 3lb bag makes it worth it to me. Yes, I would buy it again, without hesitation. Yes, I would absolutely recommend this bag. This is the second product I’ve purchased from Western Mountaineering and both have been exceptionally built.

Bought this sleeping bag to replace my previous mummy bag with a colder rating due to my previous bag was too bulky. First the price scared me and I wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it. I’ve used this sleeping bag every weekend since I bought it and It’s amazeballs! I’ve had this bag in some temps down in the teens and stayed warm all night long, this also compresses down really small and easily fits in my pack. Also I’m a bigger guy and was pleased with how this fit and didn’t feel tight like some other mummy bags. Overall I’m impressed and it’s worth the money for what you get.

Held up great in cold weather in a hammock overnight. Also compacts down well. I haven’t tried cleaning it yet but if it keeps the same temperature rating after that, then it’s a great piece of gear

This bag is exactly what you would expect from Western Mountaineering...Quality craftsmanship, superior materials, and a great place to sleep. Did I mention how warm it is? It's pretty spendy, but I plan on keeping it for years so I view it as an investment.

Haven’t had a chance to test it in really cold weather but it’s definitely warm! As is widely noted the craftsmanship is excellent. No frills, just the best!!

There is a reason that Western Mountaineering bags are considered to be among the best bags money can buy. For years I kept buying cheaper bags as I didn't want to pay the premium to get a Western Mountaineering one. However, I ended up spending way more in the long run on a series of bags that never lived up to what the manufacturer promised. Finally got tired of being cold/uncomfortable and not getting a good night’s sleep. Sold off all my other bags and picked up an Alpinlite (20 deg) for spring/summer/fall and a Kodiak (0 deg) for winter or days in spring/fall where I am at higher altitude and the temps drop. I have been so impressed by the quality of these products and how they actually live up to the temp rating they are given. Really can't say enough good things about Western Mountaineering bags. They are simply the best I have ever used. I expect these to last a long time and can't see myself ever needing another bag. They may be expensive but getting a quality night’s sleep makes it totally worth it.

I haven’t used it yet but the down is plentiful and the workmanship is great. Made is the USA and hand signed by the people that sewed it together!

Spent more time picking this back than my last car! Ended up between Feathered Friends or WM. Both quality products. Went with this as they offered a 7' version. Although I'd fit in the 6'6 version, I wanted the extra room in the foot box for clothes, boots etc. The down is fabulous as is the workmanship. Highly recommend!

I took this bag on the JMT in early June which is a transitional season. At low altitude I would leave the footbox zipped and use it like a quilt. At above 10,000 feet when it was dipping to freezing and most people were wearing multiple layers and still cold I was very warm. Bag is roomy and not claustrophobic. Not for the UL crowd but when getting cold can prevent your from sleeping well and making your miles it was worth the extra weight and the cost!! I would feel safe it I was in a storm or unpredictable weather!

I love this thing you can never go wrong with western bags but this guy will have you feeling like its summer in your bag!!
