A great option for a max cushion type daily or trainer. Definitely not for hard surface running. You can hear the grinding of the bottom on asphalt. But as an off road trainer or a daily do all A+. 4 stars not 5 because of color options. Salomon rarely hits the nail on the head with color ways anymore so it’s just something you have to tolerate to get a good product

I’d been looking for a trail shoe with a decent amount of cushioning. Had been wearing a pair of Inov-8 for a few years but the sole had always felt a little thin. My friend had a pair of Asics Gel Trabuco Max and I was tempted, but my wife and I have Salomon hiking boots and low cut trail shoes which have been great, so after doing some research I visited the Covent Garden store and tried the Ultra Glide 4. They felt great in the shop, and the next day I did a gentle 10k through my local green spaces. They were great, and I’m really pleased, just the type of shoe I was after. Super comfy and grippy in a variety of off road surfaces, probably wouldn’t use them in the depths of winter in thick wet mud.

I think I could say that they are the most comfortable sports shoes I have used so far. I love it.

I was a die hard Saucony Xodus Ultra 1 enthusiast. These are my first Salomon’s. They showed up yesterday at 7:30 pm. I slapped them on this morning and cranked out 25 miles in them. 10/10. No hot spots, tons of cushion. Comfort is out of control. Can’t wait to continue with these and about 5 more pairs!

Good shoe but the squeaking noise is terrible and annoying. Can use them only when running with music in the ears.

Very comfortable trail sneaker with great tread for the trails.

I am absolutely in love with this shoe ! It has just the right amount of cushioning and support. I’ve used it for daily training as well as long runs up to 20 miles. It felt great right out of the box! You will not regret wearing and running in this shoe!

So, I owned the Ultra Glide 3 and it was an amazingly comfortable shoe - my favourite ever trail shoe. Comfortable and stable, even on rocky, technical paths. BUT, the midsole completely failed after 150km of running (I’m a heavy runner at 80kg) to the point where it was collapsing inwards. You couldn’t even walk in them. Because I loved the shoe so much, I’m really hoping that Salomon have sorted this issue for the Ultra Glide 4. They weren’t willing to warranty the 3 which means they were expecting it to fail after 150km, and I can’t seem to get them to say what they expect from these, but I’ve taken a chance and have my fingers firmly crossed.

I have been using the Ultra Glide 4 for around two months now and they are the best trail shoes I have ever used. As someone who likes a cushioned shoe on the road like the Aero Glide 4, these give the same amazing response and comfort on the trail while also great traction for steep and narrow slopes.

I have a selection of trail running shoes from Salomon which get regular use depending on the conditions. I've always steered clear of max cushioning on the trail but these have changed my mind. True to size, great colours (lilac ash/excalibur), super comfy and ready straight out of the box. The confidence on the ups and downs is excellent and the outersole soaks up the bumps and lumps. The quicklace system clamps the the foot in nicely and there's no pressure points or slippage when on the move. Nice toe box to allow for long days on the trails. The quality build and materials make the price of these a bargain. In my opinion, Salomon's best all round trail shoe.

Love these shoes, on my 2nd pair and will buy again. Just wish they used a stiffer rubber for the lugs. Had my 1st pair for over a year, the cushion remains just as good as new, but the bottoms is completely lugless. All worn away.

Roomy toe box providing max comfort and great cushioning regardless of pace.

After six years of running in Hokas, I was honestly pretty nervous about making the switch to the Salomon Ultra Glide 4. As someone who wears a size 14 wide, the fact that Salomon doesn’t offer wide sizes made me even more hesitant. But after five 10-mile trail runs, I can confidently say I’m extremely impressed. There was only a very short break-in period, and the comfort showed up quickly. The stack height took a little getting used to at first, but once I adjusted, the cushioning and smooth ride really stood out. These shoes feel incredibly comfortable over distance. What surprised me most was how well they grip the trail. The tread sticks confidently on loose sand and gravel, and I never felt like I was sliding around, even on rougher sections. Overall, the Ultra Glide 4 has been a fantastic surprise. Comfortable, grippy, and built for long miles on the trail. If you’re thinking about stepping outside your usual brand like I did, these shoes are absolutely worth trying.

First, it's super comfortable! For a high stack trail shoe it's extremely stable and provide significant grip whether on downhill hard pack or in technical terrain. It's a shoe for the shortest of runs to mega ultra distance stuff. Great work on this one!
