I wanted to love this boot. And if it fit I'm sure I would have. Great design, style, light weight. But I had to send it back because it's heel cup was huge. So if you have a wide heel, this should be a great boot for you. If not, try another boot.

Great shoe! Nice footbed and good perimeter support. Easy to get into and out of. Size is spot-on. They’re dry. I use them for light hiking and street-use as well. lol They look good!

These are my 2nd pair of Salewa’s! My other pair are half size smaller and these I ordered the same. Had to exchange them for my normal size. Only issue with these they still slip off of the heal slightly after reordering them a half size smaller. Great looking shoe! Very comfortable and supportive shoe!

I am a Salomon user. When the X Ultra 3 failed for me twice (the second pair I returned) I looked for an alternative. I went with Salewa after seeing their booth years ago at Mountains Crossing. I went with the MTN Trainer to keep the price line about the same. I have put a lot of trail miles on these since March, so I felt I can give them an honest review. At first, I realized that they would need to be broken in and it was tricky getting the fit to wrap around the heels without slipping. The laces quickly started showing their inner core through the sleeve where the knot was being tied. The hiking continued and they felt solid under my feet with great traction. Once broken in I was able to tighten the laces more for those downhills. I also wear the MTN Trainers to work, and they squeak on the polished concrete floors. Must be the traction? They are performing well as day hikers, and the Gore-Tex is doing its job, but they stink. I mean they really do stink, like my son's soccer shoes did. I have never owned a pair of shoes that stink like these. I think an upgrade to the Wildfire would help with the heel issue, but what will they smell like. BTW the Achilles padding is showing wear as well.

Picked these up for summer hiking and disc golf- to replace my all leather, waterproof boots. Couldn’t be happier- great fit, traction and feet weren’t soaked after walking a ton on a really hot day. Looking forward to more rounds in them- and first time wearing them for disc golf- and I got my first ever ace! Coincidence???

This shoe is over-rigid and I am looking to return it. I cannot see even after break-in wearing these for any length of time. As well they run extremely narrow for a hiking boot.

Wore them for the first time on a 6 mile hike...felt like I had been wearing them for months. No blisters or any discomfort at all. Great traction too.

I have hallux rigidus, a condition which causes pain in the first joint of the big toe when bent upward (like when walking, rolling off the big toe). This requires me to find the stiffest, least flexible soles possible and more rocker also helps, not an easy combo to find especially in a low-cut shoe. These have an ideal blend of both without being so rigid you feel like you're wearing a mountaineering boot. They're a little on the heavy side due to the stiffer, rugged sole but your feet will appreciate it after a long day in rough, rocky terrain. The stiffness also makes for a better climbing shoe if you're into that sort of thing, but I wouldn't put them in the approach shoe category due to the lugged sole and comfort fit. The shoes are really comfortable and the sole grips well in all conditions including slick granite. I use them on day hikes and lightweight backpacks on and off trail and they've yet to disappoint. The one downside as others have said is that the laces are a bit difficult to keep tight when tying. It's not bad enough that I've switched out the laces yet, but that may resolve it. Overall a highly comfortable shoe that can be taken off trail and handle it all.

I purchased my MTN Trainer Lite GTX Boot a little over 30 days ago and wanted to wait before writing a review. These shoes are the answer in comfort and fit. They are comfortable in every aspect - nice look, and durable. Because of their smart styling and look, I can get away wearing them in both the office and out and about. Just wipe them off and they are ready to go again. A very smart shoe for almost any application you choose.

I have only warned these hiking shoes a few times now but they're a great fit, very sturdy and provide excellent support, as well as looking great.

Awesome support and comfort. If you are looking for a solid summer hiker this should be on your list. They have a great sole too, very grippy and responsive. I highly recommend them!

I am 6 ft tall and wear a size 13 M women's athletic/trail shoe. Good luck finding a women's hiking shoe in this size with the Gore-Tex feature and the traction attributes I was seeking... so I went looking at the men's in a 11.5 D. This design in the brown tone doesn't look completely masculine to me, and the fit is really great... and it feels really comfortable. We will see how hiking in Iceland goes in these!

This shoe envelopes your foot in suport. Looking down at your feet it might seem like an excess of lacing, but that's a major part of the shoe's comfort.

Bought these shoes to compliment my salomon quest 4Ds on my mountain hikes. Fit is perfect for me and love the traction and support they provide. Do a fair amount of rock hopping and off trail hiking Very happy with my choice

These shoes offer great support and are very durable. I have foot problems and am always looking for support and comfort. Very stylish as well.
