I was unsure about a roll top backpack, but I love it. The bag feels much more secure than a zipper backpack. I’ve always been paranoid about leaving zippers unzipped, zippers unzipping themselves, or others unzipping my backpack in crowded places. For my purpose, work and travel, this is the perfect balance of easy access for me but the harder for others. The front zipper pocket is great for easy access to stuff when I’m on my own, but I can leave it empty if I am at all concerned for my belongings. I’m also a huge fan of how clean it looks and how compact it is. I’m far less likely to accidentally bump into people with this backpack than with the bulky ones I’ve had before.

This pack is a perfect size and fit to be my every day carry. I got the black color option. Black fabric with steel buckles looks nice and matches nicely with both casual and office casual clothes. The pockets are designed to be usable but visually streamlined. The water bottle pocket on the side is made from flexible materials so that it doesn’t get in the way when it is not being used. The roll top design helps to avoid the problem of the excess space in the pack shaking around when it is less full. Additionally, it expands nicely when I need to pack extra items into the top or have to stow my sweatshirt. Another nice feature is that the buckles and clips are made of metal. My previous pack had busted up and shattered plastic parts from a few years of use. Overall, this is a good pack for carrying my laptop, a small water bottle (20oz or less) and a few books. The extra space makes it so that I could use this pack as a day pack for traveling or shorter day hikes.

I really like the bag. I bought it to hold a days worth of layers while hiking. Works well!

Excellent bag that is perfect for overnight. Plenty of room and the roll top lets you fit in a bit extra if needed.

I now own three of these backpacks - 3 different colors. They’re grea!

This is a great backpack - for work or play. The roll top makes it very accommodating.

The rolltop feature is great and I like the side entry pocket for documents, small items. It is comfortable and will fit under the seat on an airplane (unless you fill it close to its max). Main "negatives: the key fob shouldn't be in the main bag since it is difficult to find when there are other items, and the stuff pocket needs to expand out a bit more (even a pair of gloves is a tight fit).

Been using for work travel and every day for my laptop. Protected my laptop when my house was destroyed in a tornado. I figured the interior of the bag would be wet after all the rain but when I pulled it out of the rubble the interior was dry.

Grabbed this on sale and it's a solid pack for a day hike, travel and work. Pack has a lot of capacity for it's size. Only knock I would give is that I wish they would reorganize the front panel pocket with a bit more attention to storing smaller items like wallets, headphones, key's, glasses, writing utensils etc. It's a nice deep pocket but everything you store is in a big jumble. Also not sure why the included key fob is in the main pocket, where in order to grab your keys you need to stop, unhook the top, unwrap the cover and reach in.

This bag is attractive. It's very comfortable and the side bottle pocket is excellent. It is not big enough for your laptop, headphones, keyboard, etc. You can stuff an outer layer in the front pocket, but it distorts the bag significantly. A side zipper to the main compartment would make this so much better. With the roll top it's very difficult to see / access the pockets inside the bag.

I'm just going to come out and say it - the roll top is sexy. It has its naysayers, but not only does it look extremely aesthetic, this thing will convert from a lightweight school bag to an all-day-expedition workhouse by simply rolling more or less. As usual, Osprey has hit it out of the ballpark on function - the strap hook is very easy to do and undo and, far from most roll top haters perception, takes less time than most zippers do. It should be noted that there's little organization. It is, like one redditor describes roll tops, ""a cavernous hole to put your stuff in"". This suits my packing style perfectly however, as I never know what to do with too many pockets. As for definite cons... The water bottle mesh pocket isn't nearly big enough for most water bottles. Unfortunate. But it makes an excellent extra stuff pocket for a handkerchief, cards, etc! I also personally wish the stuff pocket on the front expanded just a little more, and that something was added to the other outside side panel, opposite the water bottle pocket. A second mesh pocket, perhaps? Or a couple small pockets for odds and ends that you don't want in the cavernous hole? It just seems like wasted potential. All in all, only one true con and a lot of pros. Osprey once again nails it.

I am using this pack for work. It fits my laptop and papers neatly. It holds other items as well. I appreciate the various pockets. The square shape is great for carrying a laptop and documents, and it fits very snug and close to my body. Very comfortable and holds a lot!!
Very attractive roll top bag. Easy to load and adjust. Highly recommend.

Everything about this bag is amazing. My last gear bag was a Patagonia Link 28 and it was too big for everyday use. 22L fits nicely for transit/car and fits a laptop, Yeti bottle in the back compartment, climbing shoes and small chalk bag, keys, phone, Airpods, small notebook, and a small bag for cables/mouse.
