I was biased when trying this out because I typically don't take pillows while backpacking. I just use my stuff sack of backup clothes to double as a headrest. That approach is the ultimate in weight savings but has a few drawbacks. But I gave this a try and was pleasantly surprised by this pillow because it was easy to use, comfortable, light and compact. It did what it said it would do! I've used it car camping and for 3-season backpacking trips with success. Without a doubt, this product DOES have drawbacks but they're the typical ones that come with self-inflated pillows. It's SUPER light and as durable as your average pack pillow but not as ultra-ULTRA light. Won't fit inside most mummie hoods but is big enough that, theoretically, it could be used as a temporary seating pad. The X design really does work though. Mine has lasted for several years...under light use. I don't see this holding up for heavy, extended use in backcountry though. Similarly, no one using this thing day in and out is going to want the daily struggle of trying to squeeze it back into its tiny stuff sack. But that's a common occurrence too. I think it's great and a value for what you pay.

This is an amazing product for its size and a new "must have" every time I backpack. After years of using make shift pillows with a few extra layers and my backpack, this has been a non-negotiable luxury for me from now on!

I like how small and light it is and I think it could be super useful for backpacking if you want a bit of head elevation. However, I couldn't really find a way to make it very comfortable for me. I tried different levels of inflation but couldn't seem to get it right.
Very lightweight, packs very small, nice to have a larger pillow while out on the trail

Super small and compact travel pillow. Roughly the size of a soda can. Great if you have limited room. But for me personally not the comfiest travel pillow I've used. Found I tended to roll off the edges. However one unique feature is the fact it's inflatable. This means you can change the level of firmness it has based on the amount of air. Or releasing some air will allow it to curve to your surrounding such as between a car seat and window or on a plane.
