Kerlon 1000 outer tent fabric and 9 mm poles make for a very lightweight yet strong tent
3 season design: ventilation is built into the construction, and the inner tent mesh areas have no backing fabric panels
Self-supporting dome design requires only the vestibule to be pegged, and the simple full sleeve and tensioner pole system make for quick, easy set up
The Niak has room enough for two plus gear, and is also a spacious mansion for one
Linked but seperable inner and outer tent for simultaneous pitching
The single entrance/single vestibule configuration affords easy access as well as storage space
An optional footprint covers only the inner tent area and not the vestibule. It connects directly to the tent, and can be left attached during pitching
The inner tent can be replaced with a Mesh Inner tent (sold separately)

Great Tent!
Combination of light weight and the fact that the rain fly goes up with the tent make this tent ideal for a solo camper.

An Amazing Tent
I was looking for a tent that would fit me for longer backpacking tents and could fit two in a pinch. I also wanted a tent that was relatively light and would hold up through everything I might throw at it. And I wanted a Hilleberg because I've heard nothing but good and wanted a tent to last me through the years. This tent did not disappoint. It just looks and feels like quality. Setup is as easy as any tent I've ever pitched, especially if you read the manual and watch the videos online. The pre-bent poles are a nice touch, not just in the utility but in the thoughtfulness as well. The zippers zip well, the ties tie, the guylines guy (or whatever it is they do). It even has a little pocket in the pole sack for the repair piece. The tent tears down easy, packs up easy. And maybe it's a new tent high, but it just feels good being in the tent. Accessory-wise, I did get the footprint because the ground here is rough, and I'd love to get the mesh inner for the warmer months. I feel that both are definitely worth the money, as is the tent.

It’s A Hilleberg!
Fantastic and bombproof 1 man tent. It has more room then a true solo, with a 30” pad still leaving about a foot of space inside. Vesti holds your pack well and basically freestanding. Lightweight but you’re not worrying about a fly landing on it and ripping it like many of the competitors!

Perfect Tent So Far
Very easy to pitch, very comfortable, very strong. Used on the AT in April. In cold, windy and blustery conditions, it did great. No condensation, but I haven't tested it in heavy rain yet.

Nearly Ideal 3+ Season Tent For One Person.
I have researched and tried out many tents over the years, and finally convinced myself that the Hilleberg Niak overall had the best features. Hilleberg is known for extremely high quality tents and this one is flawlessly made. In addition to the obvious ease-of-use features like the full length pole pockets, numerous well-positioned internal gear pockets, full rain fly, 10 stake-out points (but only 2 are needed to pitch the tent in mild weather), and the fact that the inner tent hangs from the fly and the whole tent is pitched all at once in less than 2 minutes, there are other cool details. The zippers on both the fly and inner tent can be closed and opened with just one hand. You don't need to hold the fabric with the other hand, zip pull on the zipper and it slides. The vestibule consists of two sides, either one of which can be staked out and the other becomes the door. The door can then be clipped up so the door is partially open or fully unzipped and opened all the way to the top so you can see the stars. Very cool. The tent can be lifted up and turned over to shake out any debris inside. The only issue with this tent is that it is a bit tricky to enter when it is raining hard because the outer fly door opens up over the inner tent door. The trick is to open the outer door partway and crawl under it. A very small price to pay for an otherwise excellent tent. I bought the all-mesh inner tent which replaces the nylon inner tent for use in hot weather. The all-mesh interior allowed tons of air flow, keeping the interior quite comfortable even when the temps were in the 80's. Awesome tent.

Tent - Average
Over the course of four days temps ranged from 75 degrees in the day to the 20's at night. Sun. Snow. Rain. High winds. It was your typical unpredictable and eventful weather at 10,000' in the eastern sierras. The tent is quite light. Almost to the point of making you nervous. Nothing broke, but compared to my Tara this is much lighter. The stakes it comes with didn't hold in the wind at all. Bring longer stakes. It was great in the snow. Not good in winds 35 to 40 mph. As the guy lines loosened, the wall of the tent kept hitting me in the head. In a heavy rain it is really difficult to enter/exit the tent without getting your gear wet. The vestibule is great to store gear in dry weather but when it's storming, it just isn't deep enough. Finally, there aren't enough internal pockets. Come on - for almost a grand I not only want more pockets but someone to set up the tent and bring me coffee. (Set up is really easy, so that's a bonus.) This is not a warranty issue - this is a design issue.

Great Niak!
My first Hilleberg and I’m just as happy with extremely high quality from Hilleberg. Easy to set up. The Niak can be erected in under two minutes with little practise. It's equally easy to take down and pack. The Niak can handles any camping weather and will last many years with reasonable care with roomy one person tent and perfect for most times of year. As a package the Niak is an excellent tent. It's solidly built, spacious and comfy. Once you're in and zipped up you'll have a great night's sleep.

Nice 3 Season Tent
I own 2 other Hilleberg 4 Season Tents ... the Nammatj 3 GT and Staika. I was looking for a 3 Season Tent and the Niak fit the bill. Hilleberg 4 Season Tents are solid Winter Tents but when temperatures are above 60 degrees F a 3 Season Tent is a must.
