Filson is the real deal and this cap is no different. It will keep your head warm and dry in the most harsh conditions Durable and rugged, it's a cap that you will swear by and not at for decades.

I opened the box and tried it on to make sure it fit then it got wrapped up for Christmas! I first saw one of these at a competitive shooting event in the Davis Mountains in west Texas. I really liked the look and features and decided I might need one. I live in central Texas so a hat like this is not a necessity but two weeks later we got hit with a big winter storm and temperatures below freezing for an entire week. A very rare event here but it sealed the deal. I will take it this February to the shoot in case it’s cold and wet or snowing. I’m sure I’ll have it on many days this winter out on the ranch. I’m really not sure what rating would be fair but I’ll give it a five in expectation of how warm and dry my balding head will be this winter.

My husband loves his new hat, it was a gift. This Filson hat is very comfortable and warm. The hat fits great and the hat is well made. Great for outdoor work too.

This hat is awesome, keeping my head warm and protected. The tin cloth works well blocking wind and the mackinaw wool lining keeps you warm. Fantastic hat for those working in the elements!

I bought this for the cold and wet, and the fact it is slightly unique in a classic style. I love it! It keeps my head warm and dry while proving some shade to my eyes. Looks good it’s warm and keeps you dry what’s not to like. On and the more you wear it the more unique the character do the tin cloth shows!

Great high quality waterfowling hat. Warm and comfortable. Well with the money and You get what you pay. This hat should last many many years.

People complain about their fingers and toes being cold. You know what? Get a great hat, and your hands and feet will be happy. This is a great hat. Follicularly challenged people might find this hat to be itchy, but wearing a skullcap or sweatband will keep the insulation off your skin. And it has excellent insulation. When you loosen up the tongue, you can slide the flap area down over your ears if the wind is blowing from behind, and you will be impervious. Get hot, and slide the fold back up. Hike into the wind, pull the helmet down into your coat, wear a balaclava under it, invulnerable. And warm. But you won't hear that Tesla driving up behind you, or the critters in the woods. I wear a 2X and love the sizing.

Bought this for my husband. He loves it! Very warm and fun to manipulate into different styles. His head measured right on the cusp of L and XLG, first bought the L, he needed the XL. I suggest going the larger size if right on the cusp. This should last a lifetime!
