Very warm, dense wool. It’s a generous medium and not especially snug. Great looking and incredibly well made. Great for casual or ever a dress shirt.

I bought this for my Dad for Christmas and he really loves it. He hasn’t stopped wearing it since he unwrapped it. Very high quality merino wool.

I'm 5'10" and 190 lbs and the vest fits just right over a t-shirt, flannel and hoodie...giving a snug fit....but not too snug. You should be happy with the vest.

Anything from CC Filson is great stuff and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to get out into the outdoors with gear they can depend on. Might as well have the best...

This vest is excellent!. Although it is 100% wool, it's not too heavy. Keep in mind that Filson sizing is kinda wierd. I wear a small Filson Mackinaw jacket and a M in this vest. I also really like the fairly neutral color. You will not keep it on inside unless it's at least a little cool. I love vests and this is one of my favs!!

This a beautiful, well-constructed vest. Recently purchased, but looks and feels like it will wear well forever. The fit is very specific: I am 5’10”; 175; with an athletic build. There is not much in the way of extra room — perhaps Filson legacy designs intentionally have less fabric to lower the risk of it catching while working? Also, if you have a long torso, this vest would likely be on the short side. Finally, and this has been mentioned by other buyers, there is no lining. Without a lining, the feel of the wool can be distracting until you get used to it.

Overall, the material of the vest is top quality. Very warm and sturdy. It’s bulky though and meant to fit over layers. I was looking for a vest that I could wear under layers or as a stand alone. Too bad

Sturdy, comfy, built-to-last — have been looking for a solid standby vest and I think this one fits the bill quite nicely. Isn't bulky, and fits well over a range of shirts. Very happy with purchase.

If only the Greater Metropolitan Chicago area had grizzlies, then I would feel even more at home wearing my Filson vest. I came across a Filson vest the first time while reading a CJ Box novel. His hero, Joe Pickett, wears a Filson. I looked them up and sure enough, they are a real thing. Purchased one this holiday season. It carves thru cold temperatures and winter winds like a Bowie knife. Keeps me warm, too.

I bought this for my husband and it fits great and looks great. He likes having his arms free for if he is hunting. It is a great quality vest.

I actually have a couple Filson vests at this point, and have had one for several years now. They are super comfortable, easy to layer, look just as good over a dress shirt as they do over an old flannel, and the extra pockets are also handy. I love reaching for a vest like this on a cold day. Will probably buy another as new colors or patterns come out. Can’t go wrong with this vest!

The Filson wool vest has been around for years. Not too much I can say that’s not already been said. The vest are nice looking as well as rugged. I have several of them. They will last a lifetime. They make a great layering system for use under winter coats or worn alone. The only negative thing is it takes sometime for the button holes to become easy to button. Also you need to assure the vest is the type you need with the features you want. There are many vest out there with more features and at a lower cost. The Filson is basic for sure. But for my use these vest are almost perfect.

Great fit and warm! Love filson and their made in USA products. Their wool is warm. Warm is their wool. Have 4 of theee now in all the different colors.

The red plaid vest made a perfect holiday gift. My son was very pleased. Quality is extremely superb and makes a warm and stylish addition to any man’s wardrobe.

Beautiful vest, well made, comfortable and durable wool. A classic, BUT, for the money, Filson should include linings in their wool products. If I take off my vest or Mackinaw, it looks like the garment is half finished. I respect and celebrate tradition, but clothing of this quality deserves a lining, a simple cotton, flannel, or even nylon lining.
