Scientist Comment
To the reviewer below. The reason why there is lye in this product is because of the process known as saponification. Potassium hydroxide is used to hydrolyze the lipid chains away from the glycerine linkage to create soap.

Dr. Bronner's Liquid Castile Soap Unscented
I first tried it on my face couple times and it dried it out really bad. When I examined the ingredient closer I realize there's potassium hydroxide in it which is LYE. All the other ingredients are wonderful and I don't understand why they put lye in this product!?? I use it now to clean my floors, sinks and toilet. My opinion: this is not a gentle product as a face wash.

Tattoo Care
I used this product on my second tattoo and it is by far the best soap to use on tattoos! It also helped control swelling and soreness! Very gentle on the skin and you only need to use a small amount each time! This is the only soap i trust on my tattoos now!
