Moonlit Nights

Kept me dry and warm during 4 nights of 28 degree desert camping. Liked sleeping with the fly up.

This Is A Really Good Tent

I bought a Fly Creek UL1 fifteen years or so ago, when it was new to the market and a revolutionary change in tent design. In the spring of 2024, I took it to Taiwan for a five week trip camping in the mountains, forests, and beaches there. I camped for a couple of nights just outside Taipingshan forest park, doing long day hikes in the park. A few days later, I was camped on the beach, and noticed sand and dampness on the floor of the inside of the tent. There were lots of little holes in the fabric, from gravel or something sharp. Totally my fault. When I got home, I wrote to Big Agnes to see if repair was an option. It was not. Replacing the floor was not cost effective or really sensible for a tent that old and that used. They offered me a discount on a new Copper Spur UL1, and I jumped at the opportunity. The side door and bigger vestibule is an upgrade, and so is the more vertical wall, created by the little cross piece at the apex of the tent. The materials are really light, but seem quite tough. I have had it out in big rain in the White Mountains in New Hampshire, kayak camping in the Merchant Islands in Maine, and in a solid wind on Mount Olympus in Greece. The tent is very small, but holds its own in a wide variety of weather conditions. It is easy to set up- actually free standing, as opposed to the Fly Creek, which needs a couple of stakes to stay put. I go back and forth between tent and hammock. When there is a chance for no trees, or I am uncertain about what will be available, I bring the little Copper Spur, and I have not been disappointed. It is very light but not stupid light, and packs down small. All thumbs up for the product, and especially for the service from Big Agnes. I'll be back for another if this one ever wears out.

I Love This Tent!

I own the 2019 version and I absolutely love this tent! I got too old for my bivvy and wanted a tent that I could sit up in and with more space. I also wanted something lightweight that could easily fit on either my mountain bike or gravel bike. I put it in my Salsa Anything fork cage with the poles packed inside. (The poles can be packed separately in the included pole sack.) It packs nearly as small as my bivvy and for me, the extra weight is worth the comfort tradeoff. This tent is lightweight, easy to set up, sturdy against wind and rain. It also has lots of convenient storage nets and pockets inside and I love the vestibule space. ( I noted "flimsy construction" as a con, but that's just the nature of a ultra lightweight tent. I've used mine a LOT over the last 6 years and it has stood the test of time.)

Great News Features

I bought this tent to replace the previous generation of the same tent. I love the stake out entry feature. It still maintains its compact size while on the bike as well. Great product!!!

Fantastic Solo Tent

I use this tent for bike packing & general lightweight camping trips. The short polls allow easy packing, lots of room for the pack size, head room where you need it, built in gear loft is great for storing cloths & best of all, the tent just weathered a 9 hour rain without leaking.

Phenomenal Quality, Highly Functional, Superior In Every Way

Easy to set up. Well-engineered to easily fit together and set up, well designed to store my gear and keep it dry, has all the room I need in a one-man tent. Easy to get in and out of. Well-vented. Lightweight and compact. Phenomenal quality. Superior in every respect. I couldn't be happier!

Great Bikepacking Tent!

First: Th tent isn't nearly as dark-colored as the picture indicates - it's light grey and white. Very easy to set up and comfortable inside. Vestibule is roomy. The shorter pole segments make a big, positive difference when packing a bike! The bag is great if you want the Molle straps, otherwise I don't see the advantage (and it doesn't fit the best with my handlebar bag system.

Perfect Bikepacking Tent

I love this tent. Recently took it out and got absolutely dumped on with rain overnight and stayed bone-dry. Easy setup and compact packed size. Highly recommended.

The Bikepacking Pro

These are excellent tents designed ti make your adventuring by bike a lot easier. The very small packability means you can fit more stuff in your bag. Bravo Big Agnes!

A 4 Because Of The Missing Stakes

I'm really happy with the compact size, the lightweight and easy to setup. The first time I tried it, it was really windy and I clearly wanted to use the guylines to mantain well the tent walls... surprise, there were not enough stakes to pitch every poles together with every ropes. Of course you can use the same stakes as the one holding the poles but it has almost no effect compare to a good line staked away from the tent, this is just physic and I guess a few extra gramms won't hurt anyone compared to a flying tent. As the material is lightweight, I will definetely get a correct footprint, I used another one as the one made for this tent wasn't available when I ordered it... as well as more stakes.

Great Bike Packing Tent

Used in bikepacking trip around the Brecons and Cambrian's in South Wales. The best tent I've owned.

I Love This Tent

I think this tent rocks, super comfortable, easy to set up, lots of smart storage pockets, I like the place to dry stuff on top of it, its a nice feature for desert camping. Its a nice weight for a tent with a lot of features. Well done Big Agnes, you've knocked this one outta the park.

I Would Buy This Tent Again

Purchased in June. I have used it on 3 lightweight trips so far. A 7 day kayaking trip. And two weekend bike touring trips. I have found it to be waterproof, and windproof, easy to setup, with just enough room for one. Haven't really used the awning feature yet, so no comment on that. In a heavy rainstorm always fold back the ground sheet from the vestibule area, so water doesn't pool between the groundsheet and the tent floor. I am riding the Northern Tier bike route across the country next summer. This tent should be perfect. The tent stakes are tough and light. Order a few extra with your tent. Thanks, John

Too Many Weird Quirks

I loved the light weight and single pole system that breaks down so small for a bike or fast pack setup. The fabrics are nice and the gear shelf was solid. After practicing the setup at home I got into the field and had difficulty with the following: 1) the footprint only works if it is staked out separately from the tent system, but is seemingly designed to be staked out together with the tent itself. In that case, while it's reasonable for the footprint to be a bit smaller than the tent floor so that water doesn't pool, the corner straps with holes are so long that it just doesn't stay connected to the tent itself. Perhaps include more stakes if it only works when staked out independently from the tent itself. 2.) the tent stakes themselves are nice and light but bend too easily. 3.) the tent door is asymmetrically shaped and intended to be propped up with hiking poles to create some sort of Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny vestibule ceiling that entire system is wonky and just didn't seem to work effectively in the field. The hiking poles would fall over easily and in the end I just wished I had a normal tent door with a single zipper. 4.) the buckles for the fly and tent are tiny and fill with sand or dirt easily, at which point they don't clip together properly. I had to clean them out during setup to get buckles to clip, and in inclement weather this was frustrating.

I Love My Big Agnes Bikepack Tent!

Just amazing design. All the little details make me so happy everytime I have climbed inside. So easy to set up after a long day in the saddle and then little place to hang my wet and smelly gear, phone, charger and bear spray. Unfortunately a black bear jumped on me and my tent a few weeks ago (no food or scents were in the tent, just a habituated campground bear) and did break a pole and ripped the fly. I'm pretty bummed as this is my favorite piece of gear.
