For someone usually barefoot, it was a dream come true finding these shoes. I'm on my 3rd pair. The shoes are great, particularly in my sandy, salty, muddy, wet haunts, and I concur with every positive comment every reviewer has made. BUT!!! I just received a new pair and the opening hole for the foot is noticeably larger. I measured 32 cm circumference compared to a 29.5 cm circumference in the pair I bought in early 2022. That's an inch (2.5 cm) bigger! So, instead of the lining comfortably hugging my foot/heel/ankle and keeping out most gunk, there's a big gap all around my foot that allows easy entry of sandspurs, small gravel, coquina, twigs, etc. I love the shoes, but can no longer claim they're ideal except in an urban environment or when wearing thick socks. I don't get it. The old linings flexed enough or could be laced looser to allow Fred Flintstone feet, but the new shoes can't be tightened in any way to snug the lining. I love Loyaks but this is a headscratcher.

I wear my Loyaks every day. Compared to other minimalist shoes, I like that they are lower volume, capable of spanning uses from creek-stomping to mountain biking to business casual, and haven't fallen apart yet. After about 6 months of constant use, the tread is about 60% worn and the upper at the toe is getting a little fuzzy, but that's it. A couple downsides: they are a bit squirmy on wet surfaces and they're not great for road running (the insole can shift around under high load). Nonetheless, I'm a huge fan of these shoes!

Absolutely love the Loyak. I switched to Astral after trying both Xero and Vivo Barefoot and frankly the bit of added cushion makes all the difference. The stack height of these shoes is something like 11 or 13mm and that's enough to pad my foot without robbing me of that precious ground feel. Anyway, try them out! I get lots of compliments on the shoes, so I know they're stylish, and they seem extremely durable. I've been wearing them daily for over a year and haven't noticed hardly any wear. Lol, this might even be my second review since I love these shoes so much.

I've bought Loyaks for years and own many pairs. They were always made in Vietnam. My latest pair, the new black ones, are made in China. Since most shoes are made in China it was a big plus for me to have the shoes made in Vietnam. I know not everyone cares, but for those who do the production location has changed.

I love these shoes!!! Whether guiding in the drift boat, or hopping rocks while fishing the creeks, this is my go-to footwear when waders aren’t required. I’m surprised Astral doesn’t market much to the fly fishing community. I could easily see these doing well at a fly shop!
