I'm a female SAR volunteer and got a new PFD for swift water rescues. Used the Astral Green Jacket for the first time in training. I am 5'7" 130lbs, B cup, and my boobs hurt the entire day. Being tethered to the rescue ring as a rescue swimmer was so much more uncomfortable than my old PFD. This jacket was obviously designed for men, without consideration for females. My old PFD didn't cut into my boobs like this one does. The 2 panel foam design absolutely crushes the lower half of your boobs. If your boobs are on your collarbones, you'll be good, otherwise, you'll be in pain. The pockets and organization are great, but you don't really care if you can't wait to get out of the thing. This is not a universal jacket. It's designed for men and should be advertised as much. My partner (a male) got the Green Jacket as well, and said it was super comfortable for him. Astral- please make a separate fit for women. We are rescuers too.

I've used this sea kayaking for about a year now. The fit and floatation are great. Very comfortable for to wear on long days. What it lacks are usable pockets. There's no radio pocket, and the chest pocket is so flat a radio barely fits, and if you stuff one in there's not much room for anything else. You might fit a granola bar and a bandaid, but its to flat for tape and other emergency gear. The side pockets are very hard to reach without taking the pfd off, and are also too small. If it had more storage this would be a great guiding pfd. With the limited storage it has, leave it for clients who just want space for a phone and granola bar.

For most of my kayaking career I've worn and trusted the GreenJacket with my life. I really like the simplicity and the functionality of the design. I really appreciate how there is not too much bulk in the front of the vest as to make it easier to stay forward and to tuck up on larger drops. Last year I got knocked out on my home run while wearing my GreenJacket and I believe that it contributed to my friends being able to get me to shore and bring me back.

Stoked about this PFD. After trying a couple of different ones Im still satisfied with the design. All the little pockets in the clamshell front are great for bits and pieces when I'm out instructing. Having the sling by the waist to clip into is a great feature for the harder kayaking trips where your PFD becomes a part of your harness to abseil into deep canyons. I really like to store my prussicks in the handy side pockets to take bulk out of the front. Helps that this PFD is comfortable and style too.

I haven't worn another jacket for whitewater kayaking and rafting in over 8 years and for good reason. Nothing else has the functionality, comfort, style, or snack space as the Green Jacket. The clamshell pocket is the best thing since sliced bread. From my toothbrush and snacks to rescue gear, everything I need from a multi-day adventure to class V kayaking is easy to access right from my PFD.
