Exceptional Jacket

Exceptional jacket for warmer, rainy weather spring through autumn. Dry and breathable, the technology is even better than the last Arc'teryx I had. I highly recommend this jacket.

Great Shell, Lacking In Features And Value Though

I'd owned the previous version of the beta lt and needed to size up from a small, so after a year I bought this. It is very good against the rain, very good against the snow, and very good against the wind. Zippers are a bit tough to zip, aka not very smooth, but I haven't had any issues. The lining is soft against skin and face fabric has held up well. I've used this for running in 2 blizzards in the NE USA, and it was surprisingly a great option. Snow was coming down hard for 16 hours and during a 2.5 hour long run, I'd only been cold when I stopped moving. It breathes pretty good even without the pits open, but I fear as with all gtx, in humid/hotter weather, it'll get clammy. Cuffs are good for adjustability and it honestly fits like a trashbag, long sleeves, long body, huge and oversized even in my regular medium. But whatever I'm only seen in this when weather gets foul and I'm running, people have their heads down anyways. It packs light, but not as light as my previous beta lt. Good jacket but don't buy at retail, competitors have honed in far better features at the same price, buy this on sale. Could have better features like snow skirt, cuff loops, internal drop pocket, better dwr.

All The Look And Feel Of A Cheap Jacket.

Gore-Tex ePe is garbage, it wets-out so quickly. So that's a bad starting point for a five hundred dollar jacket. Next is the cheap velcro cuffs which are very standard for a jacket costing one-fifth of this price. Is that the best you can do Arcteryx? Next is the annoying crinkly fabric—honestly I'd rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard. What am I getting here for my money? Well there's a fancy brand name on it amd I feel really special with that bage on there. Very disappointing for the price. Arcteryx has really gone downhill while their prices continue to climb into the stratosphere.

I Don't Even Know What It's Competition Would Be

At just 12oz, it's a pretty impressive water proof shell. I have not had it wet through tear on my so far and I am pretty rough on my gear

Durable Construction, Uncomfortable, Noisy, Stiff

I had high expectations from this top-tier luxury class brand, and was willing to pay a premium price, however the jacket was disappointing for the price. While design, construction, stitching, and durability were excellent, the exterior Gore-Tex fabric was very stiff, had the feel of an industrial plastic tarp, and there was no soft interior liner fabric used. As a result, the jacket is uncomfortable and feels like wearing a stiff camping tent or a sail. Oddly the exterior Gore-Text fabric was noisy - it makes a loud crinkling sound as the fabric rubs with any movement.

Wetting Out First Wear From Light Drizzle

Purchased this as an investment for trips and adventuring. It is my first Arc’teryx purchase and I was very excited to use it as an outer shell for my travels. I went on holiday to an area that a predicted to have historical amounts of rainfall. I wore this Beta SL in the void colorway as well as used an umbrella for added protection. The jacket wet out and began to soak through just at light drizzle as we had walked to a restaurant for food. You can see in the attached image the signs of wetting through out the jacket with exceptions of dry spots by the shoulder. It was at this time that I had realized I was in for a miserable trip of being wet and cold. The fit, colorway, and use of a shell jacket as windbreaker is great. Though I don’t think I could with good conscience recommend this product to anyone as it feels like a legitimate waste of money for what was revered as the standard for goretex jackets and kit. Washing and applying DWR as we speak in hopes to revive any possible use of it against the weather but it has failed me when I was in need of it. Extremely disappointing.

Good Tech But Didn’t Keep It. Returns It.

Dot was too small. Weight felt cheap. It’s too stiff and sounds like a plastic bag. Returned it before ever testing it. It’s not like the older Beta SL I have.

Great Coat Just One Thing

I love the jacket, it’s perfect for backpacking, skiing/snowboarding and mountaineering. It’s super light weight and surprisingly durable. One takeaway I had was the DWR, when I first got the jacket it was wetting out in some areas (which was disappointing due to the price) but after re-coating it, it was perfect. It fits lose enough to fit 2 layers comfortably without restricting movement.

Good Ski Jacket

I use the jacket as an outer layer for skiing. The large fits well over several layers and it is a comfortable jacket overall.

More Fitted Then The Regular Beta

I really like this jacket. I picked the Beta SL over the Beta because I wanted a more fitted design. I recently spent two weeks in the rain forest in South America and this jacket kept me dry and comfortable in all conditions. The pit zips were very useful when the temperature was warmer but I still wanted a waterproof layer. After the trip, the jacket was as good as new after washing with a GORE-TEX wash.

Fantastic Jacket

Fantastic Jacket, The weight is a little more than my old ultralight rain jacket, but the waterproofing is 10x better. Definitely would buy again.

Pnw Perfect

Sounds a little crinkled at first but that goes away quickly. Great fitting and very light with excellent waterproofing for the PNW climate. I’m 6’3” 195lbs and the large fits great.

The Shell For Long Trail Runs

Ultra light summer mission layer. This jacket is perfect when you really don't want to carry a rain shell, but you'll be in trouble when you don't have one. So small you'll forget you have it with you, but when it starts raining and the temperature drops on that all day mission you'll be glad you have it with you. Breathable yet durable with a slim fit you can wear under your running vest. Perfect light weight waterproof layer.

Hiking Shell

Perfect light weight Hiking shell, very light in the pack.

Great Trade Off Of Weight & Durability

Great weight and fit.. enough room for a layer under and not too constricting. 5’9” 176lb. Average build.
