I instruct in a chilly flight simulator. This vest was a perfect weight and the inside breast pocket was the perfect place for my phone. It was also great for travel as an extra layer on chilly days and the inside breast pocket was a great way to secure valuables. I returned the replacement I recently order. No more inside breast pocket... truly bad design decision by Arcteryx.

New Atom Vest
I have 2 Atom LT vests and 3 Atom regular vests, all older and still looking "ok" but wanted to replace with a newer version. Got the new design Atom and it is truely lacking in many areas from the older version. One, just feels flimsy and the fit is not right, baggy for large while the older version large fit great. Also, the pocket inside is gone? Not sure whats going on with the designs anymore. I cannot find the LT versioni of the Atom vest anymore? That version was perfect for summer temps in cooler breezy areas, such as mountains and the coast. Are you bringing the LT version back?

Excellent Vest
So just like the Adam jacket this one is fantastic. Obviously it will be a little cooler because it is a vest. otherwise, it has every feature that the Adam jacket has. I LOVE mine and use it all of the time. I may buy a second one also bc it is so good. I own multiple types of vests from multiple companies and this one is by far my favorite.

Why Did The Male Version Get Down Graded?
why did the men's version, but not the female version, have the inside pocket removed? It was an important feature as men don't have many carry options.

Just Ok.
Shape and sizing are good, but not as warm as prior version. Needs a chest pocket.

Worth The Price
The vest is made of the softest lightweight material I have ever seen.

Still Reliable
Never had an issue on the vest and I have taken this to my hike to Whitney and I both own the old and newer version. Still would recommend it. The only complaint I have is the omission of the word in the front pocket.

Fantastic Winter Driving Jacket 😎
This my third Atom Vest. I drive and feel comfortable without the sleeves. Also, I conceal carry (a weapon). This jacket is warm and conceals. DO ALL OF YOUR BODY MEASUREMENTS: The Arc'teryx body measurement charts are pretty correct. Over the last 10 years, I have had maybe 2 returns,...do your body measurements 😎

Thin Material
well made, as expected, but more like a shirt than a warming layer.

One Year Of Use: Super Versatile
Such a useful piece of kit... I bought this to use as a mid-layer on non-technical winter days out (I have an Nuclei vest for harsh weather and extra warmth), but it has ended up coming with me on so many more days than I expected. The cut of a medium is perfect on my 6'1" average build; not going to get too thick a fleece under it, but that's not what it's for I suppose.. where it does excel is as a super-packable boost of heat that breathes waaay better than the Nuclei but offers surprisingly decent wind protection too. I wear it for everything now above freezing ( or below if i am hoping to stay on the move).. Got to say that the material does stain quite a bit and the outer fabric might not be the most robust, so I don't really use it for work. It is thee best ski-touring/mountaineering outer layer I own - and if combined with the Practitioner jacket or lightweight Proton for super cold days, is just about all I will ever take again (+ a shell if howling or wet). One minor quibble is that the zip puller is exact same colour as the shell material and the zip, this makes it hard to see and grab with goggles on.

Do Not Buy--cheaper Build Than Priors.
They cheapened the build by taking away the inside chest pocket. Now I have nowhere to put my keys safely throughout the day and forget about them. Did not realize this in store/they did not tell me.

An Upsetting Revision
I wouldn’t be surprised if all of these 5-star reviews were from people who didn’t have the pleasure of owning the last generation Atom vest. It is so enjoyable to wear that I measure how good my year is based on how many days I get to wear my Atom LT vest. Not really, but almost. The smooth fleece on the backhand and ultra-breathable fabric on the palm side in the pockets created a pleasurable user experience anytime my hands got cold. The same fleece around the neck also created a cozy feeling anytime I zipped up the vest, and it was durable against a prickly beard. These are gone. Regarding the chest pocket, I use it every time I wear the vest. I love that it was an interior pocket, as it maintained a beautiful, sleek look. Not having an interior chest pocket is a deal breaker for me. The face fabric also feels less soft. This new design compromises a versatile and enjoyable everyday experience. It replaces it with an ultra-technical, limited-use layer, which would be better achieved with different insulation and features anyway. I’m not convinced this new design was meant to facilitate a lighter, more eco-friendly design. I understand that the mentioned fleece sheds microplastics and that omitting a chest pocket saves ounces. But the amount for both is minute and insignificant. I have difficulty believing these changes weren’t just an egregious way to save on costs. I thoroughly hope nothing happens to my current Atom LT vest since only downgrades exist to replace it.
